Frederique Constant, the Swiss luxury watchmaker, is marking its thirty-fifth anniversary this year by releasing a limited edition of 150 pieces of its iconic Classics Tourbillon Manufacture timepiece. The FC-980 movement, which powers the watch, was first unveiled 15 years ago and has been refined to give it a new, more sophisticated look.

One of the defining features of the watch is its tourbillon aperture, which, since 2008, has had a distinctive “comma” shape that allows it to fit snugly into the dial. For this edition, the comma has been replaced by a perfect circle, which rounds it out and enhances its elegance.

The watch’s case, measuring 39mm x 10.9mm, is made of polished 18kt rose gold, highlighting a luxurious and timeless feel. The sapphire crystal is convex and anti-reflective coated, and the case is water-resistant up to 30 meters.

The movement is the Swiss automatic Frederique Constant in-house caliber FC-980, which boasts 33 jewels, 28,800 vibrations per hour, and a power reserve of 38 hours. The gold rotor is complemented by a silicon escapement wheel and anchor, while finishing techniques like chamfering, bevelling, beading, circular graining, and mirror polishing enhance the watch’s overall aesthetics. The watch features hour, minute, and second functions, all displayed on the tourbillon.

The watch’s anthracite grey dial has a sunray finishing, with diamond-cut indices and hour markers. The rose gold-plated hour and minute hands are hand-polished for a perfect finish, while the heart-beat opening at 6 o’clock allows you to peek at the 60-second tourbillon. The seconds hand is also rose gold plated.

The limited edition Classics Tourbillon Manufacture watch comes on a dark brown alligator leather strap with a matte finishing, and an 18kt rose gold deployant clasp with Frederique Constant coat-of-arms, specially reserved for Manufacture pieces.

The watch retails for 25,995 Euros, making it a worthwhile investment to consider. Since only 150 of these were made, this limited edition timepiece is sure to become a collectible piece of watchmaking history!

Due to the unpredictable and volatile market on certain Rolex, Patek Philippe and Audemars Piguet watches, prices are subject to change.
