NEW Blancpain X Swatch Scuba Fifty “Ocean of Storms”
Beginning the year with a splash, Swatch unveiled the “Ocean of Storms,” a remarkable addition to the Blancpain X Swatch Scuba Fifty collection. This sixth model echoes the iconic Blancpain Fifty Fathoms, reinterpreted through Swatch’s innovative design lens. It features a unique black bioceramic case paired with a matte black dial, adorned with a sunray pattern.

The dial is marked by striking white Arabic numerals at 12, 3, 6, and 9, complemented by an eye-catching orange-tipped seconds hand. This model stands as a testament to the fusion of traditional elegance and contemporary aesthetics, making luxury watch designs more accessible to a broader audience.

Diverging from its predecessors, each named after one of Earth’s oceans, the “Ocean of Storms” draws its inspiration from the lunar seas, specifically the ‘Oceanus Procellarum.’ The watch’s caseback is beautifully embellished with the image of the Okenia Luna nudibranch, adding a layer of uniqueness and intrigue. Like the other 5 models, it’s equipped with Swatch’s patented system 51 automatic movement that comprises of 51 parts held together by a central screw w/90 hour power reserve and “fully anti-magnetic” according to Swatch. The strap is made out of recycled fishing nets in complimentary classic colors and is water resistant to 90M which is exactly Fithy Fathoms or 300ft. This timeless color configuration almost puts it in its own category and sets it apart as the one to own!

Launched on January 11, 2024, the “Ocean of Storms” has been eagerly anticipated by collectors as it offers the essence of the Fifty Fathoms experience at a fraction of the cost at just $400. It caters to both the newbie and watch aficionado in a way that the others don’t.

This release comes at a time when the interest in high-end watches has surged, making the “Ocean of Storms” an attractive option for those seeking the prestige of owning a classic timepiece without the associated security concerns. I can definitely attest after owning the “Pacific Ocean” & “Indian Ocean” versions it’s a great tool watch that I don’t have to worry about, yet I don’t feel like I’m compromising on anything!

Due to the unpredictable and volatile market on certain Rolex, Patek Philippe and Audemars Piguet watches, prices are subject to change.
