Every year, Glashütte Original answers a captivating question: What is the color of time? For 2025, the answer comes through two bold new creations—the Plasma and Fusion editions—that blend retro charm with futuristic vibrancy.

Retro-Futuristic Vision

Housed in the iconic square case with rounded corners, these models channel the avant-garde design spirit of the 1970s. At the same time, they project a bold modern identity. The purple Plasma and lime green Fusion dials take their inspiration from virtual worlds, reflecting the present digital age while hinting at what lies ahead.

Glashütte Original’s newly opened in-house dial manufactory, inaugurated in June 2025, crafted these dials with a velvety matte texture. As a result, the luminous colors appear both refined and versatile, making them ideal for everyday wear or special occasions. In addition, the two black galvanic-finished totalisers, decorated with a “vinyl” pattern, perfectly match the black Panorama Date display positioned at 6 o’clock.

Technical Excellence in Detail

The case, measuring 40mm x 40mm x 14.1mm, combines polished and satin-brushed stainless steel for a dynamic contrast. It features an anti-reflective sapphire crystal on the front and a sapphire display back. Furthermore, the watch offers a solid 100-meter water resistance, ensuring that it can handle both formal events and active lifestyles.

Inside, the German in-house automatic Caliber 37-02 powers the watch. It runs at 28,800 vph, holds 65 jewels, and delivers a generous 70-hour power reserve. The movement showcases the brand’s signature finishing techniques:

  • Glashütte stripe finish on the bridges, balance cock, and skeletonized rotor (with 21kt gold weight)

  • Polished and bevelled steel parts for a refined look

  • Blued screws adding subtle contrast

  • Swan-neck fine adjustment and screw balance with four regulation screws

  • Column wheel chronograph with a smooth flyback function

  • Anachron balance spring and Incabloc shock protection for reliability

The watch offers hours, minutes, small seconds, a flyback chronograph with 30-minute and 12-hour counters, a Panorama Date, and a power reserve display.

Dial & Hands

For those drawn to deep, rich tones, Plasma features a matte purple lacquer dial. Conversely, Fusion delivers a vibrant matte lime green. In both versions, black-coated rod appliques with Super-LumiNova ensure visibility in all light conditions. Likewise, the black-coated Dauphine-shaped hands, also lumed, enhance legibility.

Versatile Strap Options and Retail

Owners can choose between two distinctive options:

  • A stainless steel bracelet with a fine adjustment mechanism for a tailored fit ($17,100 retail)

  • A black rubber strap with a stainless steel fold-over clasp for a sportier look ($15,800 retail)

A Collector’s Modern Classic

With only 100 pieces of each color available worldwide, the Seventies Chronograph Panorama Date Plasma and Fusion offer more than just precise timekeeping—they provide a vivid expression of design that bridges decades. Consequently, they will appeal to collectors who value both heritage and bold modernity.

Due to the unpredictable and volatile market on certain Rolex, Patek Philippe and Audemars Piguet watches, prices are subject to change.
